PIONEER WOMAN DIES OF STROKE
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ann Collins, 85, were
held at Gardner's funeral chapel, Tuesday, Nov. 16. The Rev. L.L. Robinson
of Bingen and North Bonneville officiated. Burial was in Christ Zada Cemetery,
Underwood.
Mrs. Collins died Sunday, Nov. 14, at Skyline hospital
after a second stroke on November 9, from which she didn't regain consciousness.
She was born in July 18, 1869, in Redditch, England,
the daughter of George and Elizabeth Warman. In 1891 She came to Chicago,
Illinois, where on July 3, 1893 she was married to John Collins who died
in 1946. Since his death she has lived with her daughters.
The Collins family moved west in 1897 and homesteaded
near Goldendale. In 1931 they moved to Underwood.
Four daughters survive their mother: Mrs. Rhoda Herron,
Yakima, at whose home Mrs. Collins suffered her first stroke late in October;
Mrs. Clara Spencer, Portland; Mrs. Elsie Boyer, Underwood; and Mrs. Phoebe
Eshelman, Centerville. One daughter, Gertrude Reedd, and a son of Lester,
died before their mother.
Other survivors include a sister, Mrs. Martha Collins
and a brother, Samuel Warman, both of Maywood, Illinois; 11 grandchildren
and 18 great-grandchildren.

MARY ANN COLLINS
Mrs. Mary Ann Collins was born in July 18th, 1869 in
Redditch, England, the daughter of George and Elizabeth Warman and passed
away November 14th at the Skyline Hospital. She came to America in 1891 and
lived in Chicago, Illinois where on July 3, 1893 was united in marriage to
the late John Collins. To this union were born six children; one daughter,
Gertrude Reed and a son, Lester, preceded her in death. Left to mourn her
passing are, four daughters; Rhoda Herron of Yakima, Washington, Clara Spencer
of Portland, Oregon, Elsie Boyer of Underwood, Washington and Phoebe Eshelman
of Centerville, Washington; also a sister, Mrs. Martha Collins and a brother,
Samuel Warman, both of Maywood, Illinois.
The Collins family moved west in 1897, homesteading near
Goldendale, then in 1931 moved to Underwood. Mr. Collins passed away in 1946
and Mrs. Collins spent the following years with her daughters.
She suffered a stroke in Yakima late in October and a
second one on November 9, from which she never regained consciousness, causing
her death early Sunday morning.
Services were Tuesday the 16th at 2 p.m. at Gardner's
Funeral Home with Rev. Robinson of North Bonneville officiating. Interment
at Underwood, Washington.
