PIONEER RESIDENTS CALLED
MARGARET HOBEN EGAN
Mrs. Margaret Hoben Egan, White Salmon pioneer woman,
passed away at the Hood River hospital last Sunday at the age of 76 years,
4 months and 2 day's. She had suffered a stroke of paralysis about two weeks
before.
She was born in Ireland and came to the United States
at the age of 22 and two years later was married to J.P. Egan who passed
away several years ago. They came to White Salmon 52 years ago and she has
resided here all that time. For many years they lived on the flats below
town.
Two sons survive her - Frank Egan of Butte, Montana and
Leslie M. Egan of Portland. The funeral was held Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock
in the local Catholic church with Rev. Father T.A. Edwards in charge. The
remains were laid to rest in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
Mrs. Egan was one of White Salmon's best known pioneer
women and she is mourned by a host of friends.
