MADGE A. HAYES
Mrs. Hayes, 83, a Grandview resident, died Monday, Oct.
31, 1994, at the Grandview Health Care Center.
Madge Hayes was born in Goldendale in 1910. She and her
four brothers and five sisters were raised in the mid-Columbia communities
of Goldendale and White Salmon.
In 1930 Madge married Warren G. Hayes of White Salmon.
Madge and Warren lived most of their lives together in Yakima and the Valley,
where Warren was an executive with the Perham Fruit Corp. The couple had
one child, a daughter, Nancy Hayes Lengenegger, who resides in Grandview.
From 1974 to 1980 Madge and Warren spent their retirement
years living in Cannon Beach, Ore. Not long after Madge became a widow in
1980, she returned to the Yakima Valley to be near her daughter.
In 1987, Madge's ill health resulted in a move to the
Willson House, a retirement residence in Salem, Ore., where she lived for
several years until returining to the Yakima Valley in August of
1993.
Before years of ill health forced Madge to give up her
home, she was an excellent homemaker who enjoyed sewing, knitting and crafts.
She made many lovely gifts for family and friends that will always be
treasured.
Madge's concern and caring for others, her calm and positive
disposition, and her special sence of humor endeared her to those who knew
her. She is remembered as a wonderful mother, sister, aunt and
friend.
Services are pending. Smith Funeral Home is in charge
of arrangements. Those wishing to honor her memory may contribute to the
Sunnyside Presbyterian Church or the Lower Valley Hospice.
