"The Death Of Janet St. Lawrence, Pioneer, 1878"
Mary Buckley was born June 5, 1842, Mautzen, Kanton Lucerne,
Switzerland. She emigrated to the United States in 1888, and landed in Alleghany
county, Penn.
From there she came to San Francisco in 1896. She then
came to Portland, in 1898. Leaving Portland she came to reside at Camas.
In 1902 she came to reside on her homestead at Appleton, Klickitat county,
where she lived continuously until her death, on Aug. 29, 1928, in the 87th
year of her age.
She leaves to mourn her loss 10 children, who are living,
and four have preceded her.
Those living are Mrs. Wirth of Penn.; Mrs. Kerry Shapp
of Penn; Mrs. N. Dawson of Portland; Mrs. Mary Wright of Klickitat; and one
son Mike, who resides in Chicago. The other four reside in France and
Switzerland.
Interment took place in the Appleton cemetery, on Saturday,
Sept. 1, with Rev. D.A. Storey in charge of the services, and Undertaker
Chapman directing the funeral.
Her husband passed away in 1905.
