MAXINE M. PORTNER

     Long-time White Salmon resident Maxine M. Portner died in Hood River June 18. Mrs. Portner was 69.
     She was born in Burns, Ore., on Dec. 30, 1920, to Frances (Kinnunen) and Murvin Knosher. When she was an infant, her family came to this area in a covered wagon and homesteaded near Trout Lake.
     Oct. 12, 1940, she married Lloyd Portner. She worked for Luhr Jensen for a few years. Mrs. Portner was a member of Grace Baptist Church, and she enjoyed painting.
     Mrs. Portner is survived by children Dennis L. Portner of White Salmon, Dale A. Portner of White Salmon, Cindy L. Yarnell of Husum and Renee Holtmann of Trout Lake; and 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Terry L. Portner.
     Graveside services were held Thursday, June 21, at White Salmon Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Robert Long.
