MONNIE B. AUSTIN
Monnie B. Austin of Trout Lake died Saturday, July 2,
1994 at Skyline Hospital; she was 63.
Mrs. Austin was born June 26, 1931 in Flippin, Ark.,
to Pauline (Pearson) and Harvey Parker. In 1945 she moved to Granger where
she attended school.
In 1948 she married Bill Austin in Sunnyside. The couple
lived in Granger until moving to Sweet Home, Ore., in 1950. They made various
moves because of Bill's work, finally settling in Trout Lake in 1962.
Mrs. Austin attended the Assembly of God Church in Arkansas.
She was an avid quilter and won several championships for her work at the
fair. She also loved to crochet, make dolls, arrange flowers, play guitar
and dance - especially to the "big bands". She also enjoyed playing games
and would play with her children every night.
She was preceded in death by one son, William K, Austin,
who was killed in Vietnam in 1971, one sister, and two brothers.
She is survived by her husband Bill of Trout Lake; children
Janie Dodge of Maupin, Vicky McGinnis of Tygh Valley, Bob Austin of Maupin,
Monnie Sue Larson of McKenna, Barry Austin of Bandon, Ore., and Scott Austin
of Pine Grove, Ore.; sisters Juanita Aldridge of Muskogee, Okla., Maxine
Duggins of Sunnyside, and Ann Lively of Roosevelt; and brothers, Travis,
John and Dennis Parker of Granger. She had 13 grandchildren and 4 great
grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Austin was held Tuesday, July
5, at the Mt. Adams Baptist Church; Mike Smith officiated the service.
Contributions in her name may be made to the Skyline
Foundation c/o Skyline Hospital.
The Gardner Funeral Home was in charge of all the
arrangements.
