KLICKITAT PIONEER PASSES
Funeral services for Mrs. Minerva Berg, age 84, pioneer
of the Camas Prairie section of Klickitat county, who died Saturday evening
at the home of her daughter in Washougal after a prolonged illness, were
held from the Community church of Glenwood, Wash., Tuesday afternoon, May
20, with Rev. Geo. Good of Trout Lake officiating. Interment was made in
the Mts. Adams cemetery at Glenwood, members of the Pioneer Association were
pall bearers.
Mrs. Berg was born in North Carolina, Dec. 21, 1846.
In 1854 she moved with her parents to Missouri where she married Thomas McGrath,
who died in 1893. To this union were born seven children, three of whom are
living, they being Mrs. Arthur Trenner of Washougal, Wash., Mrs. A.J. McGrath
of Glenwood and Mrs. Ed Krall of Husum. She also leaves to mourn her loss
eight grandchildren, Archie, Leslie and Inez Trenner, Norman Homer and Irma
Krall and Myrtle and Belva McGrath; also three step-children, Mrs. Nancy
Hendryx of Husum, Mrs. Mary Anderson and Mr. Wm. McGrath both of Ellensburg,
Wash., and a large circle of friends.
She moved with her family to Klickitat county and settled
in Camas Prairie in 1882 being among the cheerfully endured the hardships
which it took to build a home in the wilderness. In 1895 she married August
Berg who died in 1904.

Mrs. Berg, one of the oldest members of the Pioneer Assn. passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Trenner at Washougal last Saturday and was buried in the Mt. Adams cemetery Tuesday. A large number of pioneers attended the funeral. The pall bearers were G.W. Gilmer, H. Kuhnhausen, Peter Conboy, Alvier Kuhnhausen, O.P. Kreps and Wm. Leaton, all member of the Pioneer Association. Mrs. Berg was well and favorably known and the community extend sympathy to the bereaved family. Rev. Good of Trout Lake officiated. She leaves to mourn her loss two daughters, Mrs. Trenner of Washougal and Mrs. Ed Krall of Husum and one son A.J. McGrath if Glenwood, eight grandchildren and a large circle of friends.

Word was received Saturday evening by Andrew McGrath of the death of his mother Mrs. August Berg, of Washougal, Wash. The funeral services are to be held Tuesday, May 20th, and she will be laid to rest in the Mt. Adams cemetery. Mrs. Berg is one of the early pioneers of this vicinity and was a splendid neighbor and a devoted Christian lady, being 84 years of age at the time of her death. The many friends extend their sincere sympathy to the bereaved family as follows: Mrs. Sarah Trenner, Washougal; Mrs. Julia Krahl, Gilmer Valley, and Andrew McGrath, Glenwood.
