MARION CHARLES BABB
Marion Charles Babb, 88, of Hood River, Ore., died July 13, 1999.
He was born June 5, 1911 in Rising City, Neb. to Charles B. and Minnie
E. (Smith) Babb. He attended schools in Nebraska. In the 1930's, Marion
moved with his family to Yakima. He entered the service in 1942. Marion and
Doris Acker were married in Newport News, Va. in 1944. She died in 1988. He
then married Margie Fox in August of 1989.
Marion started banking in 1949 in Zillah; he moved to White Salmon in
1951 and worked for National Bank of Commerce. Marion retired from banking
in 1976 and went to work as the PUD commissioner from 1976 to 1986.
He was a member of the White Salmon Masonic Lodge; Mt. Adams BPOE 1868
and was a past member of the Lion's Club. He enjoyed bowling and exploring
genealogy, and was also an avid gardener who grew prize-winning dahlias.
Marion was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris (Acker) Babb; two
sisters; and five brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Margie; two daughters, Nancy Brummel of
White Salmon and Susan Combs and her husband Tim, of Kennewick; two sons,
Bruce Babb and his wife Mary Ellen Miller of Battle Ground, and Geoffry Babb
and his wife Yvonne, of Babson Park, Fla.
Funeral services were held July 19, at Gardner Funeral Home in White
Salmon, with burial in the White Salmon Cemetery. Donations may be made to
the Skyline Foundation, P.O. Box 1625, White Salmon, WA 98672. Arrangements
are in the care of Gardner Funeral Home of White Salmon.

MARION BABB
Marion Charles Babb, a former White Salmon banker and Klickitat County PUD
commissioner, died July 13, 1999, at the Hood River Care Center, at the age
of 88.
Mr. Babb was born June 5, 1911, in Rising City, Neb.,
to Charles B. and Minnie E. (Smith) Babb. He attended school in Nebraska,

He married Doris Acker in Newport News, Va., on Jan.
29, 1944. She preceded him in death on Aug. 8, 1988. He then married Margie
Fox on Aug. 26, 1989.
Mr. Babb started banking in 1949 in Zillah. He moved
to White Salmon in 1951 and worked for the National Bank of Commerce. He
retired from banking in 1976 and went to work as a PUD commissioner from
1976 to 1986.
