PIONEER RESIDENT, AGED 83, PASSES
M.H. Hoctor, a pioneer resident of Klickitat, died at
his home in this city Monday last, at the age of 83 years. He had been ill
for some time past, and his death was not unexpected.
The funeral services were held at the Catholic Church
in Goldendale, on Wednesday, May 26, the interment taking place at the Catholic
cemetery near this city. A more extended obituary will follow later.

OBITUARY
Michael Cassius Hoctor was born in Carney County, Ireland
on March 4th, 1843. When 15 years of age, he came to New York. From there
he moved to Omaha, Neb., where he married Bridget Grace, who died in The
Dalles in February, 1911 . To this union 12 children were born, five of whom
still survive. They are M.M. Hoctor, Mrs. R.L. Tate, Mrs. E.R. Watson and
Dan Hoctor, all of Goldendale, Wash. and J.A. Hoctor, of Glendale, Arizona
From Omaha, Mr. Hoctor and his wife moved to San Francisco, where they lived
until 1881, when they moved to The Dalles, Oregon, and two years later they
came to Klickitat county, and moved to their homestead near Goldendale, where
they lived until 1905. At this time they moved back to The Dalles, and lived
there until the death of Mrs. Hoctor, after which he came back to Goldendale.
The end came on May 24th, 1920. Funeral services were
held at the Goldendale Catholic church, and the remains were laid to rest
in the Catholic cemetery beside his wife and five children who have preceded
him to the better land where no one returneth.
