MAXINE WHITING
Maxine Chenaur Whiting, a former White Salmon resident,
died April 2, 1999, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Portland, at the age of
80.
Mrs. Whiting was born Dec. 29, 1918, in Zillah, to John
L. and Lillian "Lillie" P. (Larson) Chenaur. She married James H. Whiting
in June 1939 and they moved to White Salmon. Mr. Whiting passed away in 1970
and Mrs. Whiting moved from White Salmon to Portland in 1971.
She was a homemaker, who enjoyed cooking, gardening and
golfing.
Mrs. Whiting is survived by her daughters Ann K. Sparks,
Mercer Island, and Susan L. Smith, Kirkland; son Gary J. Whiting, Portland,
Ore.; twin sister Lorraine Inglis, Sunlakes, Ariz.; sister Marie Thomas,
The Dalles, Ore.; and grandchildren Kylie and Darby Sparks, Jeff Whiting,
and Katherine and Parker Smith.
Funeral services for Mrs. Whiting will be held Monday,
April 12, 1999, at 11 a.m. at Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon, with
Rev. Willem Romeijn officiating.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society
or the American Diabetes Association, in care of Gardner Funeral Home who
was in charge of the arrangements.
