WINTERSTEIN

     Mr. Merle C. Winterstein, 75, of Goldendale died Wednesday, May 2, in Goldendale. He was born March 25, 1915 in Goldendale to Ernest F. and Maude Winterstein. He attended schools at Springcreek and Goldendale, worked for many years as a green chain operator at the lumber mill and enjoyed collecting antiques and shopping at yard sales.
     Mr. Winterstein is survived by two brothers, Arthur of Goldendale and William of Eugene, one aunt and numerous nieces and nephews.
     Funeral services were held Saturday, May 5 in the Chapel of Knosher-Erdman Funeral Home with Pastor Lee Brock of the Columbus Ave. Baptist Church officiating. Interment was in the Springcreek Cemetery.
     Active pallbearers were Don Ritzschke, Ed Layman, George Freer, Johnny Thomson, Mel Kaatz and Mike Hood. Honorary pallbearers included Frank Knosher, Gail Jackson, Kenneth Allbritton, Ted Carratt, Enos Johnson, Bud Gabbert, Frank Emerson, Don Allan and Walt Smith.
