MARIAN E. CALLIHAN
Educator and former business owner, Marian Ella Callihan,
formerly of White Salmon died Saturday in The Dalles. She was 94.
Mrs. Callihan was born Oct. 9, 1897 in Valley City, N.D.
to Mortimer M. and Alma Longfellow White. She attended Valley City Normal
School, moving to Oregon after graduation. She attended the University of
Oregon.
Mrs. Callihan moved to The Dalles and taught Civics and
English in The Dalles High School for several years. On June 22, 1927, she
married J. Scott Callihan, a pharmacist for Donnells Drug Store. They moved
to Bend, Oregon in 1940 and in 1945 they purchased the White Salmon Drug
Store which they operated until Mr. Callihan's retirement. She was preceded
in death by her husband in 1966, in addition to two brothers and a sister.
Mrs. Callihan was an active organist, member of the United
Methodist Church in White Salmon, and member of the American Legion Auxiliary
and PEO.
She is survived by her daughter, Marje and son-in-law, Henry
of Vancouver; granddaughters Anne of Federal Way, Terry of Hillsboro, Ore.;
grandson, John of Sunnyside; six great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church
in White Salmon.
Graveside services will be at White Salmon Cemetery
Wednesday.

Marian Ella Callihan, 94, a former resident of The Dalles,
died here on March 7.
She was born Oct. 9, 1897 in Valley City, N.D. to Mortimer
M. and Alma Longfellow White. She attended Valley City Normal School after
high school graduation until her family moved to Oregon and then she received
her degree from the University of Oregon.
She moved to The Dalles and taught civics and English
in The Dalles High School for several years.
She married J. Scott Callihan, a pharmacist for Donnell's

purchased the White Salmon Drug Store which they operated until he
retired.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law Marje and
Harry, Vancouver, Wash.; two granddaughters Anne, Federal Way, Wash. and
Terry, Hillsboro, and a grandson, John, Sunnyside, Wash.; six great
grandchildren, a niece and four nephews. Her husband died in 1966 and two
brothers and a sister also died earlier.
Graveside services will be at the White Salmon Cemetery
Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Willem Romeijn officiating. The Gardner
Funeral Hall, of White Salmon is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church
in White Salmon or Skyline Foundation, in care of Skyline Hospital, White
Salmon, Wash., 98672.
