MELVA LOCKE
Graveside services for Melva Locke, 89, of Husum, will
be held Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at 11 a.m. at the White Salmon Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 11, from noon to 5 p.m.
at Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon.

MELVA LOCKE
Melva Locke, of Husum, died Aug. 7, 2000, at Emanuel
Hospital in Portland, Ore., at the age of 89.
Mr. Locke was born March 25, 1911, in Camas, to William
M. and Delia (Evans) Locke. He was raised in the Bingen/White Salmon area
and attended schools here. During World War II, he worked in the shipyards
in Vancouver.
He met Gayle Dodds in Vancouver as she worked as a nurse
at Permanente Hospital. They married in Washougal on April 12, 1943. After
the war they moved to Bingen and then to the farm in Husum, where he lived
the rest of his life. Gayle Locke preceded him in death in 1993.
He loved the woods, cutting firewood or picking
huckleberries. He also loved to fish. Mr. Locke is survived by daughters
Gloria Cook, The Dalles, Ore., and Linda Henson, East Wenatchcee; son Bill
Locke, Husum; grandchildren Kathleen Pizzolato, Laclee, Idaho, John Todd
Cook Jr., Sagle, Idaho, Thomas R. Cook, Spokane, Tommy Phelps, Hood River,
Ore., Jerry Phelps, Odell, Ore; Scott Henson, Bellingham, Mark Henson, East
Wenatchee, and JeNiene and Aaron Moore, Husum; and seven
great-grandchildren.
Graveside services for Mr. Locke were held Saturday,
Aug.12, 2000, at 11 a.m. at the White Salmon Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Husum Fire Department.
Arrangements were handled by Gardner Funeral Home of
White Salmon.
