UNDERWOOD WOMAN DIES
Maragret Elizabeth Shaddox, Underwood, a longtime resident
of Skamania County, died Sunday, April 22, 1990, in Portland: She was
67.
Mrs. Shaddox was born September 16, 1922, in Dallas,
Mo., the daughter of Richard and Ruth (Tremain) Hearn. Her mother died when
she was 3, so she lived with various relatives throughout her youth.
She married Leonard H. Shaddox on her birthday in 1938.
The couple lived in the local area the rest of their lives.
Mr. Shaddox died in 1988.
Mrs. Shaddox attended the Congregational Church and was
a Past Noble Grand of Goodwill Rebekah Lodge No. 163. She was a 4-H leader
and had been a foster parent. She collected stamps and coins and loved music,
sewing, painting and reading.
She is survived by two sons, David Lee Shaddox of Appleton,
Wash., and Daniel Shaddox of Goldendale; two daughters, Peggy Jo Bradford
of Battleground and Mary E. Morrow of Portland; two brothers, Lewis Hearn
of Dallesport and Ernest Hearn of Lyle; two sisters, Pauline Balsinger of
White Salmon and Dortha Kuskie of Stevenson; 16 grandchildren, one
great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death
by her husband and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were Monday, April 30, at the Gardner
Funeral Home in White Salmon, with the Rev. Arthur Dickie officiating. Interment
was in the White Salmon Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes
Association.
Gardner's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
