OBITUARY

     Margaret E. Willis Smith was born August 14th, 1877, about 6 miles south of Mt. Pleasant, Henry county, Iowa. She was a member of the M.E. church at Conelson Chapel of Salem, Iowa, where she retained her membership until her death which occurred August 15th, 1927, being 50 years and 1 day of age.
     She was married to William F. Smith on January 1st, 1899, to which union was born nine children, all of whom survive her, Mrs. Harry G. Freer of Goldendale, Mrs. Francis Athow of near Portland, Oregon, Joseph W., Cecil W., Mary, Margaret, Clair and August, all of Goldendale. All were at her bedside when the end came. She also leaves two brothers and one sister; L.R. Willis of Goldendale, W.S. Willis of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Mrs. Sadie I. Sweeney of West Point, Iowa, and six grandchildren.
     Her husband passed away about two years ago.
     She was a kind and loving mother, a good wife and a good neighbor.
     Funeral services were held Saturday, August 20th, from the Chapman Chapel, Rev. D.A. Storey officiating. Interment was made at the Spring Creek Cemetery with Aloha Circle No. 246, of which she was a member, in charge.

THE PASSING OF MARGARET E. SMITH

     Margaret E. Willis Smith was born August 14, 1877, about six miles south of the Mount Pleasant, Henry county, Iowa.
     She was a member of the M.E. church at Donelson Chapel, of Salem, Iowa, where she retained her membership until her death, which occurred at her home near Blockhouse, on August 15, 1927, she then being aged 50 years, and one day.
     She was married to William F. Smith, on January 1, 1899, to which union was born nine children, all of whom survive her.
     The children are: Mrs. Harry G. Freer of Goldendale; Mrs. Francis Athow, near Portland; Joseph W., Cecil W., Otis D., Mary, Margaret, Clair, and August, all of Goldendale, and all of whom were present when the end came.
     She also leaves two brothers and one sister, as follows: L.R. Willis of Goldendale; W.S. Willis of Mount Pleasant, Iowa; Miss Sadie I. Sweeney of West Point, Iowa; and six grandchildren.
     Her husband passed away about two years ago.
     Mrs. Margaret E. Smith was a kind and loving mother, a good wife, and an esteemed neighbor.
     Funeral services were held Saturday, August 20, from the Chapman Chapel, in Goldendale, Rev. D.A. Storey, officiating. Interment was made at the Spring Creek cemetery, with Aloha Circle No. 246, Neighbors of Woodcraft, in charge of the exercises at the grave.
     Mrs. Smith was an honored member of local order of the Neighbors of Woodcraft, and resolutions of condolence by that order will appear in the next Agri. next week.
