MERL G. RATHBUN
Merl G. Rathbun, 81, of Goldendale, died March 22, 2000
in Goldendale.
He was born May 16, 1918 in Glencoe, Okla., to Leonard
and Ruth Mae Rathbun. He attended schools in Glencoe and was married to Laura
Braid on Nov. 4, 1937 in Newkirk, Okla.. Merle served as an aircraft mechanic
in the U.S. Army at the end of World War II, and began a career as a millwright,
working on most of the dams in the Pacific Northwest, Arizona and Montana.
Merl enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping in the woods.
Two daughters, Ruth Ann Stephenson and Merle Jean Rathbun;
and one grandson, Doug Stephenson, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Laura, of Goldendale; four
grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and a brother,
Paul, of Oklahoma.
Graveside services were held March 27 at the Centerville
Cemetery with Pastor Vernon Chase officiating. Arrangements are under the
care of Erdman Funeral Home.
