MARY A. GUFFEY
Glenwood resident Mary A. Guffey died Saturday, Oct.
24, at Skyline Hospital in White Salmon, at the age of 73.
She was born June 5, 1914 to George T. and Mary Ann (Smith)
Odle in Marenisco, Mich. She was a homemaker who loved to play pinochle and
enjoyed dancing and western music. She came to Glenwood in 1930.
Mrs. Guffey is survived by her husband, William of Glenwood,
whom she married Oct. 6, 1962; children Henry Dechand and Harry E. Dechand,
both of Glenwood, Leon Dechand of Medford, Ore., and LeRoy Dechand of Salem,
Ore.; sister Veneta Lauson, also of Glenwood, and 13 grandchildren and 20
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ann, five
brothers and one sister. She also was preceded in death by her first husband
and the father of her five children, Henry J. Dechand, and her second husband,
George Perry, with whom she had no children.
Services for Mrs. Guffey were held Tuesday, Oct. 27,
in Pioneer Memorial Community Church of Glenwood. Pastor Gary Wilderbuer
officiated. Interment followed in Mt. Adams Cemetery, Glenwood, under the
direction of Gardner Funeral Home, White Salmon.
