MINNIE SCHMID

     A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Presbyterian Church in Trout Lake for Minnie Elizabeth Schmid, who died in Pendleton, Ore., on Oct. 3, 2006, at the age of 89. She was born on Oct. 13, 1916, in Portland, Ore., to John and Mathilda Raymond.
     Mrs. Schmid was a long-time resident of Trout Lake. Before becoming a homemaker and wife, she worked in restaurants and as a postmistress. She belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary and was president for a number of years. She was also active in the Quilt Group and Saturday Market. Mrs. Schmid won many awards for her needlework that was submitted at the local fair. She was known as a wonderful cook and baker. Mrs. Schmid was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
     She was the beloved wife of Walter Schmid, who preceded her in death, and also the last surviving sibling of four. She is survived by her daughters, Wannetta Fleming, Vancouver, and Barbara C. Fleming, Pendleton, Ore.; six grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. She will be laid to rest next to Walter in the Trout Lake Cemetery.
