WELL KNOWN PIONEER WOMAN PASSES AWAY

     Martha J. Clemens, pioneer resident of White Salmon, passed away at her home in this city on June 10th at the age of 87 years, 6 months and 19 days.
     Mrs. Clemens was born in Illinois in 1841. She was married to Robt. M. Clemens, January 6, 1870 and 5 children were born to this union - four daughters and one son. They came to Washington from Kansas in the Fall of 1887 and she has lived in and near White Salmon since.
     Mr. Clemens passed away in 1915.
     She leaves to mourn her loss three daughters-Mrs. W. Moorhead, of Byron, Wash., Mrs. J. E. Richardson and Mrs. J. M. Locke, of White Salmon and one brother - Harvey T. Rathbone, of Manhattan, Kan., many grandchildren and great grand children and a host of friends.
     Funeral services were held at the home, Rev. Beatty, of the M. E. church officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
