DEATH CALLS MARY JEBE, SERVICES IN GLENWOOD LAST SATURDAY

     Mrs. Mary Jebe, 77-year-old pioneer of the Glenwood valley, passed away in Goldendale early Tuesday morning of last week, following an extended illness. Her body was in state at the Phillips Funeral Home from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Friday, February 20.
     Funeral services were held from the Glenwood Community Church, Saturday, February 21, at 1:30 pm. Burial was made in the Glenwood cemetery.
     Mrs. Jebe settled in the Glenwood valley in 1896 and was known as an active worker for her community. She served as news reporter for The Sentinel and White Salmon Enterprise for many years.
     She is survived by a daughter, Dorotha Andrews of Medical Lake; one brother, W.O. Rundall on Noville, Iowa, three sisters, Dr. Phelba Collman of Garden Home, Oregon; Mrs. Nora Rumbaugh of Parkdale, Ore., and Mrs. Candace Mouritsen of Portland, Oregon; a step-daughter, Mrs. Tillie DeVoe of Glenwood; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

     Mrs. Mary Jebe, 77-year-old pioneer of the Glenwood valley, passed away in Goldendale early Tuesday morning an extended illness. Her body will lie in state at the Phillips Funeral Home from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Friday, February 20.
     Services are scheduled to be held from the Glenwood Community Church, Saturday February 21 at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be made in the Glenwood cemetery.
     Mrs. Jebe settled in the Glenwood valley in 1896 and was known as an active worker for her community. She served as news reporter for The Sentinel and White Salmon Enterprise for many years.
     She is survived by a daughter Dorotha Andrews of Medical Lake; one brother, W.O. MARY JEBE

     Mrs. Mary Jebe, the wife of the late William F. Jebe of Glenwood, passed away February 17, 1953, in the Klickitat Valley Hospital.
     Mary Elizabeth Rundall was born in Troy Mills, Iowa, September 23, 1875. She was the second child of Mr. and Mrs. S. Rundall, whose English-Irish ancestors had arrived in America before the Revolutionary War.
     The family moved to Woodbury county, Iowa, in 1886. Mary attended the public schools in Correctionville, Iowa, and graduated from the Sioux Valley college. She taught school for several years.
     Mary married Frank P. Andrews at her parents' home March 29, 1893. the came west to Washington in 1896, and homesteaded that year at Glenwood. They lived there for 14 years. To them was born a daughter, Dorothea Mae, February 1, 1903. Mr. Andrews passed away (1910) and was buried in Moville, Iowa. A year later Mrs. Andrews returned to Glenwood with her daughter and continued living on the homestead until she married Wm. F. Jebe, November 11, 1915.
     Mr. and Mrs. Jebe and Dorothea lived in Glenwood except for an interval of four years in Berkeley, California, where Dorothea attended the Arts and Crafts college. After they returned to Glenwood they built and operated a variety store for 20 years.
     Mrs. Jebe had been in failing health for some years. After Mr. Jebe's death February 17, 1946, she retired from business.
     Mary Jebe loved Glenwood and took and active part in church, school and Grange affairs and in the Pioneer Association, having served as officer in each of these organizations.
     In the 57 devoted years that she spent in Klickitat County this worthy pioneer was well repaid by the many kindnesses of her friends during this last illness.
     She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter, Dorothea Andrews of Medical Lake, Washington; a step-daughter, Mrs. Tillie DeVoe of Glenwood; a step-son, John Jebe of Seattle; two grandchildren and six great grandchildren; three sisters, Dr. Phelba Collman of Garden Home, Ore.; Mrs. Nora Rumbaugh of Parkdale, Ore., and Mrs. Candace Mouritsen of Portland, Oregon; and a brother W.O. Rundall of Moville, Iowa, and a host of nieces and nephews who loved and admired her. A step-son, Wm. Jebe, is deceased. His family lives in California.
     Mrs. Jebe's services were conducted by the phillip Funeral Home of Goldendale with the Rev. Glen Morton of Trout Lake officiating. Pallbearers were Osmar Kuhnhausen, Fred Feller, Frank Lyle, Frank Seaton, Ruby Wellenbrock, and Robert Parrott, all of Glenwood.
     She was a correspondent for the Goldendale Sentinel and White Salmon Enterprise and has written many pioneer stories which will be published.
     Mrs. Jebe was laid to rest in the Pioneer Cemetery in Glenwood. Hers was a "finished" life.
