PIONEER; MAX LADIGES DIES IN VANCOUVER

     Max Ladiges was born Sept. 5th, 1885 at the home ranch in Glenwood, Washington of pioneer parents, Henry Carl Von Ladiges and wife, Dora.
     In 1906 at Stevenson, Washington Max was united in marriage with Elizabeth Sweighoefer. Seven children were born to this union: Charlotte (Lottie) Eagleton and Elizabeth (Ellie) Gribner, both of Portland, Oregon; Walter Ladiges, Max Ladiges, Jr. and Paul Ladiges; all of Glenwood, Washington; and Lucille Bolt of Portland, Oregon; one baby son, William deceased.
     Max was active in community affairs, being a school board director for the Lakeside District many years. A Grange member and Camas Prairie Pioneer for over 50 years, and served as president of the Hellroarng Irrigation Project during its building to its completion.
     Max passed away the morning on November 2nd, 1966 at the Emerald Terrace Convalescent Home in Vancouver, Washington.
     He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, six children, one sister, Lottie Sellinger of Vancouver, Washington; a step-brother, Paul Ladiges of Carmichel, California. Also, fifteen grand-children, thirty-two great grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; besides a host of relatives and friends who remember his kindness and helpfulness.
     Funeral services will be held at the Pioneer Memorial Community Church of Glenwood, Washington at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5th. Interment will be in the Mt. Adams Cemetery, Glenwood, Washington.

     Max Ladiges, 81, of Glenwood died early Wednesday morning in Vancouver, where he had been a patient at Emerald Terrace Convalescent Manor since October 26.
     Funeral services will be held at the Pioneer Memorial Community Church at Glenwood at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5. Burial will be in the Mt. Adams Cemetery.
     Mr. Ladiges was born September 5, 1885 at the home ranch in Glenwood, Washington of pioneer parents, Henry Carl Von Ladiges and wife, Dora. Seven children were born to them: Charlotte Eagleton and Elizabeth Gribner, both of Portland, Oregon; Walter Max Jr., and Paul Ladiges, all of Glenwood, and Lucille Bolt of Portland; and a son William who died in infancy.
     He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; six children; a sister Lottie Sellinger of Vancouver; a step-brother, Paul Ladiges of Carmichel, Calif.; 15 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
     Mr Ladiges was active in community affairs, being a school board director for the Lakeside District for many years, a Grange member and Camas Prairie Pioneer member for over 50 years. He served as president of the Hell Roaring Irrigation project during its building.
     Active casket bearers will be: Howard Murray, Jr., Errol Andrew, Gary harter, Lionel Krall, Perry Harter and Harry Dechand. Honorary bearers are: George Wellenbrock, Frank Lyle, Ollie Kreps, Osmar Kuhnhausen, Robert Wellenbrock and Robert Parrott.
