MELBA LOUISE BRANSCOM
Melba Louise Branscom, 84, a resident of Lyle, died Tuesday,
May 17, 2005 at a local hospital in The Dalles.
She was born Sept. 29, 1920 in Malone, Wash., to Alanzo
Sylvester and Vivian Ethel (Collier) Steed and grew up in Prosser, Wash.
She married Wilbur A. Branscom on Oct. 15, 1938 in Prosser and they lived
there for a number of years before moving to Lyle in 1960. Mr. Branscom preceded
her in death in 1982.
She was very enthusiastic about her faith, and enjoyed
reading the Bible, watching Christian television and listening to Christian
music. In addition, she was a voracious reader and enjoyed trips in the car
and going camping with her husband.
She was a member of the Lyle Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughters and their families; Vivian
"Cindy" Jerue, Spokane, Frankie Roth of Lyle, and Melee "Wink" Dietz, Eatonville,
Wash. Also surviving are grandchildren Sami, Debbie, and Tyel, and
great-grandchildren Corrin, Daniel, Tabitha, Jade, Gia, Jorja and special
friends, Inez Williams and Tom Laughery. In addition to her husband, she
was preceded by a granddaughter, Shale, who died in infancy.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 20 at 1 p.m.
at the Lyle Methodist Church with Pastor Bill Scholl presiding. A private
family committal services will follow at the Balch Cemetery in Lyle. Memorial
contributions may be made to the Lyle Methodist Church, P.O. Box 276, Lyle,
WA 98635-0276. Arrangements are by Columbia Cremation & Burial.
