MARVIN MONTGOMERY

     Marvin Lyle Montgomery, 74, of Glenwood, died April 25, 2001.
     He was born Feb. 11, 1927 in Benton City, to Arthur Floyd and Florence (Moore) Montgomery. Marvin attended various schools while his father worked on the railroad. On Aug. 19, 1944, Marvin married Josephine McDowell in Yakima. He worked in the wheat fields and herding sheep before becoming a custdian for the schools of Glenwood and then Connell, where he retired. In 1987, he moved back to Glenwood, where he and Josephine made their home.
     Marvin was a "Mr. Fixit" and he especially liked restoring Kaiser and Fraizer cars. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and playing cards. Family was a high priority with Marvin. He "adopted" many kids along the way.
     Eight brothers and sisters, and two grandsons, Jason and Anthony, preceded him in death.
     Survivors include his wife, Josephine of Glenwood; two sons, Duane of Glenwood and Jim of Royal City; three daughters, Anita Wellenbrock, Marvina Randle and Jensi Smith, all of Glenwood; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
     Funeral services were held April 28 at Gardner Chapel in White Salmon with vault interment at Mt. Adams Cemetery in Glenwood. Remembrances may be made to the Ronald McDonald House in care of Gardner Funeral Home, P.O. Box 390, White Salmon, WA 98672. Arrangements were under the care of Gardner Funeral Home.

     Marvin Lyle Montgomery died on April 25, 2001, at his home in Glenwood, at the age of 74.
     Mr. Montgomery was born on Feb. 11, 1927, in Benton City, to Arthur Floyd and Florence (Moore) Montgomery. As a youngster, he attended various schools while his father worked on the railroad.
     On Aug. 19, 1944, Mr. Montgomery married Josephine McDowell in Yakima. He worked in the wheat fields and herding sheep before becoming a custodian for the schools of Glenwood and then Connell, where Mr. Montgomery retired. In l987, he moved back to Glenwood where he and his wife made their home.
     Mr. Montgomery was a "Mr. Fix-it" and he especially liked restoring Kaiser and Fraizer cars. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and playing cards.
     Mr. Montgomery was a family man and a man of excellent character. Family was a priority to Mr. Montgomery and he "adopted" many kids along the way. He was very highly thought of in his community and was tenderhearted toward his wife.
     Mr. Montgomery is survived by his wife, Josephine; sons; Duane, Glenwood, and Jim, Royal City; daughters Anita Wellenbrock, Marvina Randle and Jensi Smith, all of Glenwood; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by grandsons Jason and Anthony and by eight brothers and sisters.
     Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 28, at 1 p.m. at Gardner Chapel in White Salmon, with vault interment at Mt. Adams Cemetery in Glenwood.
     Memorials may be made to Ronald McDonald House in care of Gardner Funeral Home, who was in charge of arrangements.
