MARTHA BARKER RITES MAR. 27TH
Martha M. Schwarz Barker was born to Emil and Teckla
Shwarz in Arlon, Iowa in 1905. She attended school in Arlon where her parents
owned and operated a butcher shop. She attended Business School in Sioux
City, Iowa, where she met and married Cleon Barker. Two girls were born of
this union; Betty Jean Barker Wise and Joan Belle Barker Little.
Martha and family moved to White Salmon in 1940 where
she has lived ever since. She was head cook at Skyline Hospital from 1951
to 1966.
Martha loved to play the organ and was proficient at
it. Her life was dedicated to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,
where she served readily in many positions. Martha's life was an example
of service to others.
She is survived by two daughters, Betty and Joan; four
grand sons, Curt, Clint, and Willy Wise of White Salmon and Harry Little
of Pomeroy, Washington.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 27th, 1 p.m.
at Gardner's Funeral Home in White Salmon. Interment was at White Salmon.
Officiating were Mr. F.A. Butler, first counselor; Mr. S.V. Cooper, district
president of the L.D.S. Church as guest speaker, and assisted by Mr. Mozart
Burles of White Salmon.
