MARY M. KATT
Mary M. Katt, 83, of White Salmon, died March 11 in The
Dalles. Services were held Thursday, today, at Gardner Funeral Home in White
Salmon, beginning at 11 a.m., with Rev. Keith Wellman presiding. Burial follows
at White Salmon Cemetery.
She was born Jan. 1, 1906, in Collier, Kansas, to Barbara
(Malsom) and Frank Yanda. She moved to the area in 1937, and worked for
Hollenbeck Lumber Co., in Bingen, tallying and grading lumber for a number
of years. After retirement she enjoyed gardening and being with her
grandchildren. She was a long-time member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in
Bingen.
Mrs. Katt is survived by children Eugene Brown of Spokane,
Loyd Brown of San Pablo, Calif., Robert Katt of Portland, and Donna Carter
of Underwood; sisters Rose Casey of Alexandria, Va., and Viola Ellege of
Pasco; brothers Franklin Yanda of Wichita, Kan., and James Yanda of Issaquah;
19 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by
her husband, William Katt, brother Theodore Yanda and daughter Dixie Alston.
Memorials in Mrs. Katt's name may be given to Our Savior
Lutheran Church in Bingen or Hospice of Hood River.
