MELVIA SANDERS
Melvia May Sanders, White Salmon, died in Hood River
on June 16, 1995, at the age of 89.
Mrs. Sanders was born Dec. 30, 1905, in Mercury, Texas,
to Rhoda Jane (Calvin) and James Bailey McAda. She grew up in Texas, marrying
Riley Sanders on Jan. 3, 1925, in Flaydada, Texas. They made their home in
Texas and raised their family there. They moved to White Salmon in the early
1950s, after a short stay in Hood River. Mr. Sanders died in 1974.
Mrs. Sanders was a member of Church of Christ in Hood
River. She loved doing crossword puzzles. She loved spectator sports, especially
the Trailblazers. She was an avid Bible reader and memorized many
scriptures.
Mrs. Sanders is survived by her sons R.V. Sanders, White
Salmon, and James Walter Sanders, Lancas-ter, Calif.; daughter Lena Fern
Pennell, Pasco; grandchildren Al Sanders, White Salmon, Janice Clevenger
and James Sanders, both of Lancaster, Calif.; five great-grand-children and
two great, great-grand-children.
Services for Mrs. Sanders were held June 21, 1995, at
11 a.m. at Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon, with Mr. Obert Henderson
officiating. Interment was at White Salmon Cemetery.
