MARY STECKMANN
Mary M. Steckmann, former White Salmon resident, died
in Milwaukie, Ore., on April 7, 2001, at the age of 78.
Mrs. Steckmann was born on Nov. 2, 1922, in Spokane,
to John Francis and Laura Loverna (Lewis) Lightfoot. She attended school
at Bemiss Elementary and John R. Rogers High School in Spokane. In 1943,
she met David Steckmann at a roller rink in Spokane and six or seven months
later they were married. He served as pastor and he and Mrs. Steckmann lived
in Spokane from 1956 to 1965, in Sandpoint, Idaho, from 1965 to 1970, in
White Salmon from 1973 to 1983, and finally Tecate, Calif., from 1984 to
1988. Mr. Steckmann died in 1988, at which point Mrs. Steckmann moved to
Milwaukie.
She loved music and crafts. She played the organ, piano
and saxophone.
Mrs. Steckmann is survived by sons Phillip, Mark and
Joseph; and 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service was held on April 10, 2001 at 7 p.m.
at First Baptist Church in Milwaukie, Ore., with another service at 1 p.m.
on April 12, 2001, at Grace Baptist Church in White Salmon. Interment was
at White Salmon Cemetery.

MARY MARGARET STECKMANN
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 10,
2001, in First Baptist Church in Milwaukie for Mary Margret Steckmann, who
died April 7 at age 78.
Another memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday,
April 12, in Grace Baptist Church in White Salmon, Wash.
Mrs. Steckmann was born Mary Lightfoot on Nov. 22, 1922,
in Spokane. She moved to Portland in 1988. She had served with Nursing Home
Ministries in Milwaukie for the past 10 years. She married David Steckmann,
a pastor, in 1943; he died in 1988.
Survivors include her sons, Phillip, Mark and Joseph;
10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Interment in the White Salmon Cemetery in White Salmon.
