After eating a hearty breakfast Monday morning and returning from my walk of some distance, Moses Thornton, of Underwood, died in his chair as he sat reading. Mr. Thornton was 78 years old and appeared to be enjoying excellent health. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday by Rev. Dix of the Advent church.
Moses Thornton was born in Shelby county, Illinois, and 1827, and was the father of fourteen children, ten of whom are living. They are: Mrs. Wise, of Chenowith, Mrs. L.M. Baldwin, of Sebatha, Kansas, Mrs. Matilda Hale, of Portland, Mrs. Mamie Taball, of Springfield, Mo., Michael, Edgar, Charles and and Frank Thornton, of Underwood, and Jacob Thornton, of Hood River.
