MARSHALL HAMM

     Marshall Robert Hamm, a longtime Lyle resident, died at his home on June 25, 1995, at the age of 81.
     Mr. Hamm was born Jan. 16, 1914, in Pendleton, Ore., to Fleda Clara (Parks) and Ralph Milas Hamm. He grew up on various wheat ranches in eastern Oregon. He married Lillian Haug near Tacoma in 1935. They moved to Lyle shortly after he started working for Union Pacific as a signalman. They moved all over with the railroad, but Lyle was their home base.
     Mr. and Mrs. Hamm bought the Chevron Station and Massey Ferguson Supply in Lyle in 1946. They operated it until selling in 1976.
     Mr. Hamm was a member of the Lyle United Methodist, Columbia Grange #87, Mt. Adams BPOE #1868, and Sundowner Good Sam Club. He was a coin collector, loved auctions and antique farm tools. He loved to play cards and visit ghost towns, as well as travel.
     Mr. Hamm is survived by his wife, Lillian, Lyle; son, Bill Hamm, Lyle; daughters Barbara Sexton-VandeBruggen, Lyle; Marcia Dildine, Bonney Lake; sister, Shirley Tanner, Lyle; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Scott Sexton.
     Funeral services for Mr. Hamm will be held Friday, June 30, 1995, at 10 a.m. at Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon, with Rev. Jodene Romeijn-Stout officiating. Interment will be at Lyle Balch Cemetery, Lyle.
     Memorials may be given to Hospice of the Gorge, PO Box 36, Hood River, Ore. 97031.
