MARION SWANSON
Marion Swanson, a former Appleton resident, died January
18, 2000, in Baker City, Oregon, at the age of 68.
Mrs. Swanson was born Oct. 10, 1931, in Hood River, Ore.,
to Byron and Priscilla (Box) Nordstrom. She grew up in Appleton, graduating
school there. She raised, trained, showed and sold Tennessee Walker's.
Mrs. Swanson loved the outdoors-fishing and hunting.
She went to Alaska as a tourist in 1986 and met George Swanson. They were
married on March 31, 1987, in Palmer, Alaska. Together, they built their
cabin along the Knik River just off the Knik Glacier. They built it from
the ground up and in the winter-time, they would have to dog sled in and
out.
The couple moved to Murdock in 1990 for health reasons
and then to Baker City, Oregon in 1993.
Mrs. Swanson is survived by her husband, George; son,
Mark Snell, Glendale, Calif.; a daughter Vicki Hillstrom, Baker City, Oregon;
sister Bette Setters, Lyle; brother Alfred Nordstrom, Roseburg, Ore.; four
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by
a son Randy Snell.
Funeral services for Mrs. Swanson were held Monday, January
24, 2000, at 11 a.m. at the Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon, with Pastor
Les Haarstad officiating. Interment was at Lyle Balch Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Baker County Search and Rescue
in care of Gardner Funeral Home, who was in charge of arrangements.

Marion P. Swanson, 68, of Durkee, died Jan. 18, 2000,
at her home.
Her body will be taken to White Salmon, Wash., for the
funerl and interment.
Local arrangements are under the direction of the

grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
