LONG TIME RESIDENT PASSES AWAY AFTER ILLNESS OF SEVERAL YEARS
Funeral services were held February 14 for Mrs. Minnie
W. Moon, who passed away Saturday, February 12. Internment was in White Salmon,
I. O. O. F. cemetery.
Mrs. Moon was 86 years of age, was born in Wisconsin
in 1858. She came to White Salmon in 1879 and was one of the oldest and best
known residents of this section. She is survived by her husband, W. E. Moon,
of this city, and a daughter, Mrs. Virginia Glidden, of Portland. Also, three
sisters, Mrs. Cora Somers of Parkdale, Oregon; Mrs. Lillian Corbett of Spokane,
Washington; Mrs. Ortha Reed, of Hood River, Oregon, and several nieces and
nephews.
Mrs. Moon was a sister of the late Mrs. Jennie Jewett.
She taught school in Glenwood just after coming west in 1879. At that time
few residents lived here and she was the oldest resident of White Salmon.
