TEENAGE GIRL DIES IN FALL UNDER HORSE
Nancy Emma Clark, 13-year-old W.S. 7th grader, received
fatal injuries at 5 p.m. Sunday, June 30, when she fell from a runaway horse.
According to Nancy's father, Delbert (Stub) Clark, Nancy
was riding with her friend Tanene Stauch, midway between the Clark and Stauch
ranches on top of Burdoin when the tragedy happened.
Tanene's father, Marion Stauch rushed Nancy to Skyline
Hospital where she died at 9:45 p.m., presumably from a skull fracture. Her
multiple injuries broken leg, arm, shoulder and head -indicated she had been
trampled.
Nancy was born March 14, 1944 in Lewiston, Idaho and
the Clarks came to White Salmon in 1950. They have two other daughters, Carol
June, 11, and Geraldine Frances. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Paul J. Bailey
of White Salmon.
Nancy's funeral was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 3,
at Gardner's Funeral Home. The Methodist Rev. Oscar Olson officiated. Burial
was in the Odd Fellows cemetery.
Pall bearers were James E. Cooke, Marion Stauch, Wesley
Cooke, Virgil Hughes, Amel Burris and Lon Yarnell.

Nancy Emma Clark, 13, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Delbert
R. Clark of Snowden Rt., White Salmon died Monday evening of injuries received
when she fell from a horse she had been riding near the family home.
It was believed that the girl was either kicked or had
been stepped on by the halter ridden horse.
She passed away at Skyline Hospital of a skull fracture
3½ hours after the accident.
Nancy Emma Clark was born on March 14, 1944 at Lewiston,
Idaho, the daughter of Delbert R. and Eliece Maxine Clark. The family home
is seven miles northeast of White Salmon on the Snowden road. They had lived
in this district since 1950.
She is survived by her parents and two sisters, Carol
June and Geraldine Frances, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul J. Bailey
of White Salmon.
Pall bearers were: James E. Cooke, Wesley Cooke, Marion
Stauch, Emil Burris, Virgil Hughes and Lon Yarnell.
Rev. Oscar Olson of the Methodist Church officiated at
the services held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Gardner's Funeral home here. Interment
was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery here.
