RAUSCHER
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, February
25 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church for Nellie G. Rauscher, who passed away
on February 21, 1985. Father Seamus Kerr was the Celebrant.
Rauscher was born November 22, 1899, the eldest of five
children but the only daughter of pioneers Alexander and Mary Colleary Davenport.
During her childhood, they had a farm east of Goldendale. The family later
moved to the Number Six area, where her grandparents, Russell and Isabel
Davenport, had a homestead.
In November of 1916 she was married to Andy Rauscher.
They lived six miles east of Goldendale on the Rauscher Ranch, where they
farmed and raised Hereford cattle. In 1941 they retired to Goldendale due
to Mr. Rauscher's ill health.
Mrs. Rauscher is survived by one daughter, Pauline Coffield
and son-in-law Jack Coffield of Wishram; a grandson, Mical Coffield of Las
Vegas; two brothers, Henry Davenport of Yakima and Leo Davenport of The Dalles;
two nephews, Wayne Hoctor and Dr. Jack Davenport of Goldendale; two nieces,
Charl Schuster of Goldendale and Donna Davenport Scott of Redmond; and many
grand-nieces and nephew.
She was past president and chaplain of World War I barracks,
a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and also a member of the
Klickitat County Historical Society and St. James Church. She will be remembered
for her love of poetry, flowers and horses.
Active pallbearers were Ed Morris, Arthur Schuster, David,
Bruce and A.J. Davenport, and Kerry Bachman. Honorary pallbearers were Wayne
Hoctor, Marshall Duffield, Ronald Roe and Raymond Coffield.
Interment was in the Holy Trinity Cemetery.
