MRS. J.F. HASTON PASSES AWAY
The community was saddened the past week by the death
of Mrs. John F. Haston of the Mountain Brook district. Mrs. Haston died on
Thursday, January 21st, of pneumonia.
Nina L. Wolfe was born on September 4, 1888, in Pawnee
City, Nebraska, and was married to John F. Haston in 1910 at LaGrande, Oregon.
They came to the Mountain Brook district, in the White Salmon valley, in
1920. Deceased leaves her husband, one daughter Eileen who is attending high
school here, and five sons, besides her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James B. Wolfe
of Corvallis, Oregon; a brother Glen Wolfe of Baker, Oregon; and one sister
Mrs. Nellie E. Carman of Goldfield, Nevada.
The funeral, held at the Mountain Brook church, Saturday,
was largely attended by the many friends and neighbors who paid departing
tribute to one who had been a kind neighbor and who had made a host of friends
during her brief residence in this district. Rev. Grant Merchant had charge
of the services, and the remains were laid to rest in the I.O.O.F. cemetery
of the city.
