FUNERAL FOR MRS. M.C. MARTIN TO BE HELD HERE TODAY
The funeral of the late Mrs. M.C. Martin will be held
at the Congregational church in this city this morning at 11 o'clock with
the Grange and Rebekahs in charge of the service.
Mrs. Martin passed away Tuesday night at the home of
her daughter, Mrs. H.B. Lusk, in Portland. The body was brought here Wednesday
by Gardner's Funeral Service.
Nettie M. Jones was born in 1873 in Springfield, Illinois
and came west to Tacoma, Wash. in 1890; was married to M.C. Martin in 1892.
They moved to Cascade Locks, Ore. in 1894 and came to White Salmon in 1904,
making their home in the Hood View district where they developed one of the
finest orchard properties in this section. After the death of her husband
in 1930, Mrs. Martin went to Portland to make her home with her daughter,
Mrs. Georgia Lusk. Mrs. Martin was a member of the Mt. View Grange and the
Rebekahs. She was one of the best known women of this section and a host
of friends are mourning her loss.
She is survived by two sons, Floyd G. Martin of this
city, Elwood C. Martin of Portland; one daughter, Mrs. Georgia Lusk of Portland;
and six brothers -- Wesley L. Jones, and Walter Jones, of Toledo, Wash.,
Warren P. Jones, of Caldwell, Idaho, P.C. Jones and Arthur Jones of Kansas
and Norton Jones of Oklahoma.
