OWNBY
Mrs. Nellie Ownby, 72, of Goldendale, passed away on
Tuesday, June 4 in Goldendale.
She was born on Oct. 2, 1912 in Kansas to Daniel and
Nancy Ray. The family moved to Goldendale in 1913. Nellie attended schools
in Goldendale and married Charles Ownby on Feb. 15, 1929 in The Dalles.
The couple lived in Goldendale most of their lives, and
Nellie was employed as a nurse at Klickitat Valley Hospital for many years.
Her husband Charles passed away in 1978.
Nellie was an avid gardener. She is survived by two
daughters, Nancy Stone of Spokane and Sally Payne of Goldendale; three
grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three brothers, Paul and John Ray
of Goldendale, and Gerald Ray of Libby, Montana; and one sister, Evelyn Saxton
of Goldendale.
Memorial services were held on Thursday, June 6, in the
chapel of Knosher-Erdman Funeral Home. Pastor Roy Churchill of the Seventh
Day Adventist Church officiated.
