Nathan M. Wood, one of the oldest pioneers and most highly
respected citizens of this valley, died last Tuesday night, Feb. 24th, at
his home in this city. Mr. Wood was born in the state of Indiana, on April
19th, 1831, and in a few weeks would have been 79 years of age. Few men live
to reach such an honored old age.
Mr. Wood, after a lengthy residence in Iowa, came to
the White Salmon Valley about 24 years ago, and has since made it his home.
He moved to town a few years ago.
Mr. Wood was a member of the Christian church and of
the I.O.O.F.. He leaves an aged widow, four daughters and a son, and several
grandchildren and great grandchildren. Three of his daughters, Mrs. L.G.
Pyatt, Mrs. A.R. Miller and Mrs. V.G. McCoy, are residents of this valley.
