OBED HALTON OLSON

     Obed Halton Olson of Lyle, formerly of White Salmon, died Saturday, July 9, 1994; he was 94.
     He was born January 21. 1900 in Foston, Minn., to Simonette M. (Larson) and Hans Christian Olson.
     His family moved to Glenwood when he was one year old where he lived from 1908 to 1915 until moving back to Foston.
     In 1915 he returned to the area to live in White Salmon. He married Janie Bailey in Stevenson in 1929. The couple lived in the same house on Slaughterhouse Road since 1938.
     Mr. Olson worked at Underwood Fruit until 1938 when he started farming full time. He was known for his egg farm for 10 years.
     His wife died in 1985. In 1990 he moved to a foster home in Lyle.
     He was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Mt. View Grange. He enjoyed gardening, working in his woodshop and windmills and weather vanes.
     He is survived by his son Robert Olson of Cook; and his daughter Darlene Smith of Portland. He had 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
     A graveside service for Mr. Olson will he held Friday, July 15, at 11 a.m. at the White Salmon Cemetery; Rev. Ed Wright will officiate the service.
     The family suggests that contributions in his name be given to the Skyline Foundation c/o Skyline Hospital.
     The Gardner Funeral Home was in charge of all the arrangements.
