OPAL L. HUFFSMITH
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 5, for long-time
Glenwood resident Opal L. Huffsmith, who died at Vancouver Memorial Hospital
April 3.
Born in Glenwood to Lottie P. (O'Neal) and Maurice
Schneidler, she married Bert R. Huffsmith in Goldendale in 1938.
Mrs. Huffsmith farmed and logged in the Glenwood area before moving
to Trout Lake in the early 1960s, where she and her husband ran the service
station for 12 years.
Mrs. Huffsmith drove the senior services bus for several
years and the couple was caretakers of the Trout Lake Park, as well. The
couple moved to Husum in 1973.
Mrs. Huffsmith enjoyed reading and working crossword
puzzles.
She is survived by husband Bert of Husum, mother Lottie
of Yakima, daughters, Margaret Lucas of Vancouver and Cindy Reeves of White
Salmon, son Bert D. Huffsmith of Trout Lake, sisters, June Danielson of Yakima
and Janet Booher of La Center, brother Ben Schneidler of Summit City, Calif.,
nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Wednesday at Mt. Adams Cemetery
in Glenwood. Rev. Dick Steward was pastor.
Contributions in Mrs. Huffsmith's name may be given to the American
Cancer Society.
