PIONEER DIES FAMILY HOME IN GLENWOOD

Parley H. Akerill was born May 17th, 1881 in Provo, Utah and passed away September 15, 1957 at his home in Glenwood, Washington.
He was united in marriage to Annie Strutt on January 4th, 1905 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. They moved to Portland, Oregon in 1907 and in 1908 to Klickitat County and has resided in Glenwood the past 24 years. Parley took an active part in Community affairs and has been President of the Camas Prairie and Vicinity Pioneer Association for the past three years.
To this union five children were born. He was preceded in death by his oldest son Harry who passed away in 1930. Parley is survived by his wife Annie, two daughters: Lucille Ward and Betty Hettrick all of Glenwood and Milton of Manson, Washington. One brother Milton of Grants Pass, Oregon; 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Also a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday September 18th at Gardners Funeral Home in White Salmon; Rev. Kenneth Shellbach of Trout Lake, officiating. Interment was at Appleton, Wash.

DEATH SUMMONS PARLEY AKERILL, GLENWOOD LEADER

Death came Sunday at his home to Parley Akerill, 76, a resident and community leader at Glenwood for 24 years. He had served as president of the Camas Prairie and Vicinity Pioneer Association for the past three years.
Services were held at Gardner's Funeral Home at White Salmon Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. with interment following in the Appleton cemetery. Officiating minister was the Rev. Kenneth Shellbach of Troutlake.
Mr. Akerill, who had been in ill health recently, was born at Provo, Utah, May 17, 188. He married to Annie Strutt January 4, 1905 in Edmonton, Alberta and the couple moved to Portland in 1907. They came to Klickitat County in 1908 and to Glenwood in 1933.
One son, Harry, preceded his father in death in 1930. Survivors include the widow, Annie, and two daughters, Lucille Ward and Betty Hettrick of Glenwood; two sons, Merle of Glenwood and Milton of Manson, Wash.; a brother, Milton, of Grants Pass, Ore.; 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren, as well as numerous nephews and nieces and a host of friends.
Pallbearers at the final rites were Scott Miller, Earl Odle, Leon Conboy, Ivan Teel, Clarence Lewis, and Homer Babcock.
