ROBERT A. CAHILL
Robert A. Cahill, 79, of Goldendale, passed away May
28, 1998.
He was born Feb. 8, 1919 in Goldendale to Edward and
Anna Cahill. Robert attended Whitman College and Washington State University
until enlisting in the Coast Guard during WWar II. He and Betty Durant were
married in Goldendale May 17, 1941. Bob and Betty owned and operated the
Ponderosa Motel and had rental property in Goldendale. Bob also worked as
a Goldendale police officer and later deputy sheriff. They moved to Portland
and did property management until retiring, returning to Goldendale in 1985.
Bob was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the
American Legion and the Pleasant Valley Grange. He enjoyed hunting and fishing
and loved sports, coaching basketball and umpiring the high school baseball
games.
Bob was preceded in death by one grandson.
Survivors include his wife, Betty, of Goldendale; one
daughter, Cindy Maygra of Portland; two sons, Robert Jr. of Goldendale, and
Michael of Yakima; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren; one nephew;
and one brother, Martin Cahill.
Memorial services were held June 1 at Holy Trinity Catholic
Church with Fr. Thomas V. Lane officiating. Erdman Funeral Home was in charge
of the arrangements.
