RUTH ADELINE HATFIELD
Ruth Adeline Hatfield was born January 30, 1894 at Murray,
Cass County, NB, to Wilbur C. and Emma F. Nye. She passed away February 7,
1970 at Goldendale, WA.
With her family she moved in 1901 from Nebraska to Bickleton,
WA., where they lived till 1909, moving then to the Yakima Valley. A few
years later they moved to Goldendale which became their permanent
residence.
She was married October 18, 1919 to John E. Hatfield.
They have lived continuously at Goldendale in the Blockhouse area.
After graduating from Goldendale High School, Mrs. Hatfield
taught school in her early adult years. She was a member of the Klickitat
County Historical Society, Klickitat County Pioneers Association, and Ladies
Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars.
She was preceeded in death by three sisters: Virginia
Nye Barker, Olive Nye Ganders, and Edna E. Nye, and one brother, William
B. Nye.
Surviving are her husband, John, two children: Rosemary
(Mrs. John T.) Woodward and John W. Hatfield of Tampa, FL. Also one sister,
Kate Nye of Goldendale; seven grandchildren Robert, Richard, Barbara and
Karen Hatfield; David Barbee, Candy and Jackie Woodward; also three nieces,
Ruth Ganders, Marginny (Mrs Jack) Stillings, Joy Anne (Mrs. Clyde) Miller,
and two nephews Stanton H. Ganders and Roger Barker.
Funeral services were held Wednesday with Rev. Don McCauley
officiating. Interment was in the Springcreek Cemetery. Pallbearers were:
Paul Bellamy, Gail Butler, Lee Darland, Ray Hill, Tal Bratton and Art
Winterstein.
