Grandma Hendryx Passes Away At Age of 98 Years And 6
Months
Grandma Hendryx, Klickitat County's oldest pioneer passed
away at the age of 98 years and 6 months on Wednesday morning at her home
in Husum after a short illness of one week. The funeral will be held Tuesday
at 2 P.M. at the Congregational Church in White Salmon, Rev. Bundy officiating.
The Gardner Funeral Service will have charge of the services.
Mrs. Hendryx was born December 26, 1836. She has lived
near Husum for many years and was one of the best loved pioneer women of
Western Klickitat. She has led a very active life.
She is survived by two daughters; Mrs. Martha Gregory
of St. John's, Ore., Mrs. Francis Locke of Bingen, Wash., a son James Hendryx,
of Husum; 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 3 great, great
grandchildren.

Was Over 98 Years of Age at Time of her Death; Was Oldest Pioneer
HUSUM -- (Special to The News) -- Grandma Hendryx, after a short illness of a week, passed away at her home Wednesday morning. Mrs. Hendryx was born December 26, 1836 and has lived in Husum for many years. She was Klickitat county's oldest pioneer. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Martha Gregory, of St. Johns, Ore.; Mrs. Francis Locke of Bingen, Wash.; a son, James Hendryx, of Husum; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and three great great grand children.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Edwin Bundy in
the Congregational church at White Salmon, June 30, for Mrs. Rosanna J. Hendryx,
Klickitat county's oldest pioneer, who died Wednesday morning, June 26 following
a brief illness. Born in Calloway county, Kentucky, December 26, 1836, at
different times she made long treks by covered wagon from Kentucky to Missouri,
thence to Texas, and from there to her late home, twelve miles north of White
Salmon.
Surviving her are her son, James T. Jr., Husum road;
two daughters, Mrs. Martha Gregory, St. Johns, Oregon, and Francis Locke,
on the Evergreen highway, Bingen; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren
and four great-great-grandchildren.
