RAY DeWITT BENTLEY SR.
Ray DeWitt Bentley Sr., a retired farmer, died in Portland
Friday at the age of 87.
Bentley was born Sept. 14, 1893 in Deagonal, Iowa, to
Mr. and Mrs. John A. Bentley. He served in World War I, and was a country
constable for 12 years in Canyon County, Idaho. He moved to White Salmon
two years ago.
Bentley was a member of the First Methodist Church in
Nampa, Idaho, and also was a member of the Mt. View Grange.
He is survived by his wife; Ruth, of White Salmon; a
son, Pete Bentley of White Salmon; two daughters, Betty Irish of White Salmon
and Patricia Rypkema of Mora, Minn.; a brother, John A., Bentley of Anaheim,
Calif.; a sister, Gladys Hunt of Tucson, Ariz.; 4 six grandchildren and 11
great-grandchildren.
Funeral service's for Bentley were held Tuesday, at the
Gardner Funeral Home with the Rev. Floyd Green officiating.
Contributions in Bentley's honor may be made to the White
Salmon Fire Department truck fund.
