EVELYN CANFIELD
Evelyn Ruth Peterson Canfield died in Walla Walla on
Aug. 13, 1997, at the age of 85.
Mrs. Canfield was born in Twin Falls, Idaho, on Dec.
30, 1911, to Pearl Susan and Benjamin Marshall. She married Carl Peterson
in 1930. They lived in Trout Lake on the Peterson homestead, where they raised
five children -- Wesley, Bernice, Carol, Wayne and Lynne. Mr. Peterson died
in 1952. In 1961, she married Jack Canfield. They lived in Trout Lake, where
she had an antique shop. They also lived in Home Valley and spent many years
traveling. Mr. Canfield died in 1982.
Mrs. Canfield was devoted to her children, grand-children
and great-grandchildren. She was a prize winning photographer and wrote many
fine poems. She enjoyed attending meeting at Kingdom Halls of the Jehovah's
Witnesses. Mrs. Canfield is survived by
her daughters and their husbands Bernice and J.B. Bradshaw and Carol and
Ford Bradshaw, all of Walla Walla, and Lynne and Doug McCuistion, Underwood;
stepson Fred Canfield and wife Gladys; sisters Helen Luke and Faye Pressler,
both of Vancouver, and Irene Portner, White Salmon; brothers Harold Marshall,
Battle Ground, and Ben Marshall, Trout Lake; 10 grandchildren and 11
great-grand-children. She was preceded in death by sons Wesley and Wayne,
sister, Florence and brother Bill.
Graveside services for Mrs. Canfield will be held Saturday,
Aug. 23, 1997, at 11 a.m. at Trout Lake Cemetery.
