TROUT LAKE WOMAN PASSES AWAY
EVELYN RUTH STRAND MOURNED BY ENTIRE COMMUNITY
Ruth Evelyn Strand, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Coate,
of Trout Lake, passed away in Walla Walla, Wash. on January 31 at the age
of 26 years and six months, having been born on July 31, 1912.
She attended the Trout Lake School and graduated from
the Trout Lake high school with the class of 1931. She was married to Grant
Strand on April 1st, 1933. To this union was born a son, Allen. She is survived
by her husband, Grant Strand, and son, Allen; her mother, Anna Moore Coate,
a sister, Martha Hoffman, two brothers, Roger and Lester Coate, and many
nieces and nephews.
While quite young she united with the Presbyterian church
in Trout Lake. She and her parents, always took an active part in the church.
Sunday School and Christian Endeavor societies. She was also active in the
school, community and social affairs, as well as in everything that pertained
to the welfare of the community in which she lived.
The funeral services were held in the Trout Lake church
on Friday, February 3rd at 2 p.m. under the direction of Gardner's Funeral
Service of White Salmon, Rev. Geo. Good officiating. The remains were laid
to rest in the Trout Lake cemetery.
