OREGON TOWN HELPS LOCAL BOYS TOWN
John Day, Oregon Eagles Lodge, speaking for that small Oregon
community, staged a benefit dance two weeks ago for the Camp Columbia Boys Town.
The huge thing about the benefit dance was not a nice profit of $66
from the small Oregon community but the fact that the dance was held anyway,
even after the sudden blizzard of that time made a great turnout impossible but
those people went ahead anyway and staged a benefit, raising the funds to be
turned over to the local group of trustees of the local Boys Town.
John Crowe, one of the local trustees told the story here this week
pointing out that although Washington Eagles Lodges have made it a point to
stage benefits for the local boys town, no Oregon towns were asked, the John Day
Lodge doing the benefit dance on its own initiative.
