ROBERT G. CHARTERS
Services for Robert George Charters of Bingen, who died
in his home March 5 of natural causes, are set for Friday, March 10, at the
Gardner Funeral Home, beginning at 2 p.m.
Mr. Charters, 88, was born April 13, 1900, in Ekalaka,
Mont., to Maggie E. (Proper) and Robert C. Charters.
He moved to this area in 1909, attending trade school
in Portland before becoming an auto mechanic for many years. Mr. Charters
worked at various other jobs in the area, and he was self-employed in the
timber industry for 30 to 40 years.
He married Virginia J. Arnold in 1955 and retired in
1972. Mr. Charters enjoyed working on cars.
Mr. Charters is survived by wife Virginia of Bingen,
children Raymond R. Charters of Portland, Deborah L. Hathaway of Presque
Isle, Maine, Douglas R. Charters of White Salmon, Daniel J. Charters of White
Salmon, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Committal at White Salmon Cemetery will follow Friday's
service.
