ROBERT E. GIMLIN
Robert Eugene Gimlin, a Glenwood resident since 1962,
died Thursday, Dec. 12, in Portland, Ore., at the age of 53.
He was born Aug. 13, 1932 to Floyd and Mary (Benson)
Gimlin in Aurora, Mo. The family moved to Central Washington when "Bob" was
13. Bob married Charlene Warren in Mabton, Wash. on Sept. 20, 1952. He entered
military service in November of that year, and served during the Korean conflict.
The Gimlins lived in Mabton after his discharge, then
moved to Glenwood in 1962. Bob worked as a carpenter/maintenance worker for
St. Regis and later, Champion International. He was a member of Mt. Adams
Elks Lodge No. 1868, the Glenwood Rodeo Association, and past fire chief
of the Glenwood Fire District.
Mr. Gimlin is survived by his wife Charlene, Glenwood;
mother, Mary, Mabton; children, Robert Jr. of Ellensburg, Michael of Glenwood,
Charley of Glenwood, and Susan Williams of Goldendale; four brothers, William
of Sunnyside, Joe of Camarillo, Calif., Delbert of Richland, and John of
Mabton; four sisters, Thelma Craft of Mabton, Edith Kelly of Prosser, Dorothy
Blair of Kennewick, and Pauline Ledgerwood of Augusta, Ga.; and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 17, at Gardner
Funeral Home, under the auspices of Mt. Adams Elks Lodge 1868. Interment
followed in Mt. Adams Cemetery at Glenwood. Arrangements were made by Gardner
Funeral Home of White Salmon.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hugo Johnson
Scholarship Fund, or the Jim Leaton Scholarship Fund, of Glenwood, Wash.
