RONALD WALDKIRCH
Ronald Leland Waldkirch, a longtime White Salmon resident,
died Aug.16, 1998, at his home, at the age of 65.
Mr. Waldkirch was born Jan.15, 1933, in Portland, Ore.,
to George Waldkirch and Mary L. (Haley) Holden. He grew up in White Salmon.
After high school, he joined the Navy. He returned to White Salmon and worked
as a tugboat pilot, logged for SDS Lumber Co., and worked as a bartender.
He moved to Reno, Nev., for 20 years off and on and came back to White Salmon
and bought the Town Tavern in Bingen in 1977. He went back to Reno in 1984,
retiring there in 1994. He then moved to Ocean Park and recently moved back
to White Salmon.
He loved fishing, hunting, slo-pitch softball and pool.
He also refereed high school basketball. He was a member of Eagles Lodge
#2210, Mt. Adams Elks Lodge #1868, and Ocean Park Moose Lodge.
Mr. Waldkirch is survived by his parents George Waldkirch,
Portland, Ore., and Mary L. Holden, Reno, Nev; sons Merle Waldkirch, Reno,
Ron D. Waldkirch, White Salmon, and Dayne Waldkirch, Battle Ground; daughter
Tracine Bland, White Salmon; brother John J. Waldkirch, Gresham, Ore.; sisters
Tanya L. Jones, Reno, Caroline Jeffries, Milwaukie, Ore., and Penny Moore,
Eugene, Ore.; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers
Tim and Gene and stepfather John "Dude" Holden.
Memorial services for Mr. Waldkirch will be held Thursday,
Aug. 20, 1998, at 11 a.m. at Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon, with Mt.
Adams Elks Lodge officiating.

36, Hood River, Ore., 97031.
